Apparel and Textiles CAD Laboratory

Room 209 Human Ecology

The Apparel and Textiles CAD Laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility offering training in the most current versions of apparel and textile design software. The lab consists of 13 Silicon Graphics Workstations with large 21" monitors fully loaded with U4ia, U4ia Sketch, and IP Scan Software from Lectra Systems. These software packages are widely used in the industry by leading apparel, textile, automotive, and other design firms.

Students learn to design apparel and textiles (knits, prints and wovens) using these programs. Designs are color printed by an Apple Color LaserWriter 12/600 Printer. Design inspiration and research is enhanced by these computers which are Internet accessible. A UMAX Scanner is used for input to boost student creativity. A Sony Projector that shows the instructor’s screen is used for teaching and presentations.

Daily lab hours are from 8-5 PM with extended open lab hours on evenings and weekends.

MSU gratefully acknowledges the donation of the U4ia and U4ia Sketch Software by Lectra Systems.
