The department has four very active student organizations,
one for each major.
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is a
nonprofit professional society representing the interests
of interior designers and the interior design community.
The society has student chapters at colleges and universities
with interior design programs. MSU's student chapter is
the largest student chapter in the nation.
The Merchandising Management Association provides you
with wonderful opportunities to explore your dreams of
business and retailing through various activities and
events planned for the year. Together, we can help you
reach your goals for success. We hope that you will help
us reach our goals throughout the year by participating
in our organization.
The Student Apparel Design Association was developed to
unite students with a common interest in fashion and textiles.
Annually, SADA produces a fashion show featuring student
work and participates in career fairs, developmental workshops,
industry related trips, and seminars. In conjunction with
Faculty, SADA helps to develop proffessionalism and preparation
for the fashion industry.
The organization is structured
around issues and concepts associated primarily with minorities
in the apparel design industry and other applicable specializations
(graphic design, art, etc.). We also strongly promote
entrepreneurship. With this organization, peer mentoring,
hands on involvement in projects and functions (i.e. fund-raisers,
CAD & portfolio workshops) are implemented. We include
all different majors on campus without discriminating
against major, race etc. M.A.D.E strives to break the
fashion status quo and promote pluralistic diversity.
